Engagement Sessions

Engagement Sessions

Engagement sessions is a great opportunity to work with your photographer for the first time and become accustomed to his/her style. Their techniques to get you more comfortable in front of the camera. Our goal is to make you more comfortable and laugh. We intend to make our images provoke the special connection with a couple. Some clients have a specific reason for their engagement sessions, they want these special photographs for save the day cards, signature boards or other items. We have some tips, guides and some gentle posing ideas.

Tips & Guides

What time should we plan the engagement session?

Photography is all about having great light and location. We normally like to schedule engagement sessions about an hour two after sunrise or two hours before the sun sets. However, with the exception of midday, we are always able to create amazing images that help set the intimate mood for a couple.

Dress Options

We suggest sticking with neutral colors, they will be timeless and classic. Of course, bold colors can be worn if you prefer, but busy patterns are something the camera sensor doesn’t always like.

Should we bring props?

We encourage you to bring something that will add to the shoot and that is personal to you. Keep in mind that you can potentially use these photos for your “save the dates” so having something with the date or your initials is a good start.

Conclusion: Have Fun!

Your engagement session should be fun! Remember these are the photos that basically announce to the world that you’re getting married. Unlike the wedding, you’re not rushing, there’s no deadline, and you don’t need to keep track of hundreds of different things going on. So enjoy, have fun, and remember why the two of you are there.

We tend to use zoom lenses so we can sometimes keep our distance while you are having fun and ignoring the camera. We will give subtle posing tips along the way, but we are trying to have you look at each other and be playful. Those are the best shots.
